The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program in the Acute care-based practice setting was first accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in 2002 and most recently reaccredited in 2016. The program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of institutional practice with an emphasis on the delivery of pharmaceutical care and clinical services. The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The 12-month postgraduate training experience is composed of a variety of required and elective rotations, as follows:
The specific program for each resident varies based upon the resident’s goals, interests, and previous experience. However, all residents are required to complete the above core rotations. The required rotations above can be repeated and tailored to resident interests as an elective, or the resident may select from elective rotations below.

The Program was established in 2021 and is currently in candidate accreditation status with ASHP. The program provides an environment for comprehensive education and training in drug therapy and disease state management for patients in a collaborative setting. The program includes a variety of ambulatory and inpatient rotations with an emphasis on transitions of care. The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide-range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for post-graduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
