Our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program, based at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), and in conjunction with the Center for Traumatic Stress, has the following educational mission: to train fellow to accurately and efficiently diagnose and treat children and adolescent patients with psychiatric and behavioral disorders using a biopsychosocial approach and to foster critical thinking and leadership skills. The program is especially committed to training fellows to be proficient in recognizing and treating the effects of trauma in children and adolescents.
Clinical and didactic experiences are designed so that graduates will be proficient in developing an accurate diagnosis and thoughtful biopsychosocial formulation and implementing a treatment plan that includes any necessary medical evaluation, provision of appropriate psychotherapies and psychopharmacology, and appropriate and effective educational, community, family and social interventions.
The program has access to a full range of clinical services, including outpatient, partial hospital, inpatient, school, community, and consultation-liaison settings. The Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescent at AGH is a nationally recognized clinical research program that offers unique education experience working with traumatized children.
