- Call the office directly. (See all AHN Pediatrics locations.)
When to schedule a sick child appointment
Schedule a sick child appointment when your child has a minor illness or injury, like a viral or bacterial infection, abdominal pain, a skin infection or condition, or a minor cut, scrape, bruise or muscle strain, or when they need chronic disease management.
If you need a same-day sick child appointment, please call early in the day so that we can accommodate your scheduling requests.
When to schedule wellness visits
Between birth and age 3, you’ll schedule wellness visits for your child every few months. After that, you’ll schedule wellness visits once per year to monitor their growth and development.

Virtual appointments
Scheduling a telehealth appointment can be convenient if you do not want to leave the house with your sick child or can’t get a same-day sick child appointment in one of our offices. We offer virtual appointments on weekdays until midnight and on the weekends until 8 p.m. To schedule an appointment, you can call your pediatrician’s office after hours or schedule a visit through MyChart.
AHN Pediatrics can address most health concerns with a virtual appointment, including:
- Behavioral/developmental concerns (i.e., ADHD, anxiety, depression).
- Illnesses that do not require tests to prescribe medication (i.e., croup, sinusitis, pink eye, headaches).
- Gastrointestinal issues (i.e., constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, acid reflux).
- Feeding concerns.
- Concussion.
- Asthma follow-up.
- Most rashes/eczema.
- Some minor injuries (i.e., cuts, scrapes, burns, bruises, sprains).
We can’t schedule a telehealth appointment for:
- Well child checkups or wellness visits.
- Newborn weight checks.
- Jaundice.
- Respiratory distress (i.e., pneumonia or wheezing).
- Any condition that may require prescribing antibiotics (i.e., ear, throat, or urinary pain).
Getting ready for your virtual appointment
Before starting your video visit, make sure that you and your child are in a comfortable, well-lit space that is quiet and private. Use Wi-Fi if possible for the strongest connection. Weigh your child and take their temperature and keep this information handy for the provider.
Nurse advice during business hours
We encourage parents and caregivers to call the pediatrician’s office if they have questions or concerns about their child. A nurse will screen your concerns to determine the type of care your child needs. During business hours, nurses can discuss non-emergent concerns and answer routine questions about care, child development, and other issues over the phone. There is no charge for nurse triage calls. These calls are not considered telehealth visits.
After-hours answering service
All AHN Pediatrics locations have an after-hours answering service staffed by pediatric triage nurses. They will quickly evaluate your child’s symptoms over the phone. While some concerns can be addressed over the phone, others may be sent to your AHN Pediatrics office for follow-up the next business day. If your child should be seen before their pediatrician is available, they will help guide you on where to get care for your child.
Always call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room if your child has:
- Chest pain.
- Shortness of breath.
- Stroke symptoms.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Uncontrolled bleeding.
- Serious head injury.
- Major burns or broken bones.
New patient appointments
If you are transferring to AHN Pediatrics from another medical practice, you will need to sign a release of information form to allow our staff to electronically access medical records from an outside organization. Please also bring vaccination records and any other important medical information, a form of identification, and your insurance card.
Pediatric specialty appointments
