The EMS academic division is a part of the larger system of health care known as the Allegheny Health Network. The Division is dedicated to excellence in the treatment, transport, and stabilization of patients in the prehospital environment. The Division consists of the LifeFlight program, prehospital response units, outreach initiatives, and a diverse educational curriculum. Physicians with experience in prehospital medicine or board certification in emergency medical services provide oversight for the flight, ground, and educational sections of the program. The Division is committed to offering the highest quality educational experience through the support of peer reviewed EMS education, a structured resident physician rotation, and a fellowship in emergency medical services.
