The AHN Department of Neurosurgery celebrates a rich tradition dedicated to the surgical training of Neurosurgery Residents and medical students. Our faculty consists of a diverse group of nationally recognized, board-eligible/board certified attending neurosurgeons. They provide specialized, innovative, and state-of-the-art care to our patients across western Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas.
Through our affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine, we are proud to facilitate opportunities that will provide exposure to our field. Whether you are a student from Drexel University College of Medicine or from an outside institution, you are welcome to embark on educational experiences with us by rotating on our Neurosurgical service, assisting with various research projects, and observing our esteemed faculty in the operative rooms and during clinical encounters.
The residents enrolled in our Neurosurgery Residency Program also look forward to mentoring you throughout your training. The Neurosurgery Residency Program consists of seven years of neurosurgical training focusing on excellence in patient care, education, and research. Our residents are outstanding physicians, educators, and scientists. Our program is fully approved and accredited by the Graduate Medical Education Committee under the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Our expertise in a diverse selection of subspecialties has catapulted our center to a premiere, regional center of excellence in both patient and academic training. We regularly perform surgery in these areas at Allegheny General Hospital and at our AHN affiliate sites.
In addition, our Center for Surgical Arts within the Allegheny General Hospital will provide you with ample opportunity to work on your technical skills though hands-on cadaver laboratory sessions and departmental courses. Research opportunities under the mentorship of our neurosurgical faculty and residents abound within the department as well.
